Command Cube
This is a TES Command Cube Bundle
It consists of a Train Experimenter Shield and a custom enclosure. One Train Actuator Shield of your preferred type must be selected. You will also need an Arduino Uno. A clone is offered for purchase separately.

This is a discounted bundle of three products (each also sold separately). It does NOT include an Arduino (which you will need).
The Train Experimenter's Shield (TES) for the Arduino Uno (and most clones) is a receiver/decoder for the Lionel Legacy and compatible Systems. It receives its power from the AC voltage present on the Lionel three rail track (18VAC, nominal). See the TES User Manual for more detailed information. The TES is a fully assembled and tested Arduino Uno Shield.
There are several versions of the Train Actuator Shield (TAS) but all work with a Sketch running in the attached Arduino Uno to act like a mechanical switch, turning on/off connected AC voltage. Complete descriptions of all TAS versions can be found in the TAS User Manual. TAS are only available as a kit, no assembled version is offered. Note that all versions of TAS are generic Arduino Uno Shields which can be used for anything you want (such as home automation). No trains are required and no TES is required. However, THIS Bundle requires you to select one of the following TAS.
• TAS Max - This model of the TAS has a built in "Snubber circuit" to improve the reliability when controlling somewhat inductive loads (like vintage Lionel animated accessories). It provides four full command paths, handling signals on Arduino Uno digital pins 4, 5, 6, and 7 (Match Commands 1, 2, 3, & 4).
• TAS Heavy - This model of the TAS has a built in "Snubber circuit" and two 10 amp triacs to allow control of high current loads, such as an uncoupling track. It handles command signals on Arduino Uno digital pins 6 and 7 (Match Commands 3 & 4).
• TAS Relay - This model of the TAS uses relays to switch the outputs, so unlike any other TAS, it can control both AC and DC voltage. The relays are rated at 10 amps, 250 volts AC and 10 amps, 30 volts DC. The relays are tall, projecting above the point where another Arduino Uno Shield could be placed on top because the standard pins would be too short.
A Command Cube Acrylic Enclosure custom made to hold and use the three PCB set of:
• An Arduino Uno (or clone)
• A Train Experimenter Shield (TES). The TES should usually be the topmost PCB for best signal reception (except when using the TAS Relay).
• One of the Train Actuator Shields (TAS) - or perhaps a Shield you made yourself.
Note: Assembly required. The Command Cube enclosure ships flat in a sturdy bag with protective paper still on the panels.
All images should be considered representative. That is, the PCB or color may change and components, logo, whatever… may be added, removed, revised, or moved. What you receive may look different – but it will work as described.
